Background:

Jointly written by John Evan-Jones Ph.D, a British Management Psychologist and Marianne Evan-Jones MSc, Dip.Ed a Danish educational special needs expert  with over 20 years experience of teaching both children and adults suffering from Dyslexia.  After years of frustration at the lack of resources and expertise available to assist children suffering from dyslexia, they designed their own POWER - Power over words equals results - programme to cure their son Alexander who was classified at age seven as a deep dyslexic.  This book is written primarily for parents, although already it has become a standard text for many teachers. Since its release in Denmark the book has received considerable national and international attention from the media and received glowing reviews.

out of 5 starsAn enormous leap forward in home teaching.
I have two sons aged 8 and 4, and both have reading difficulties. I bought this book in the States two months ago and have been using it ever since with remarkable results. My son's teachers have been so impressed that they have ordered ten copies for their school library. What a wonderful, common sense and practical home teaching tool.

out of 5 starsAbsolutely Brilliant...Inspiring.
Like many parents with a Dyslexic child, I was in despair until I read this book. It´s written in a wonderfully sensitive & caring way & at the same time it contains masses of information & teaching techniques. Tired of being "fobbed" off by my son´s school & frustrated by the lack of "formal" help, I really was beginning to think that my child was never going to be able to read. After only 3 months of using this book - well what can I say - incredible. My son now has a future. Every school & every library in the U.K. should have a copy of this book.

out of 5 starsAn invaluable teaching tool
As a primary school teacher in Newcastle, I´m often confronted by questions about Dyslexia from parents. This book has saved me numerous hours scouring the net or seeking library resources. I now recommend this book to any parent who wishes to know about, and also who wish to help their children overcome, Dyslexia. Inspiring.

out of 5 starsA great addition to Dyslexia teaching methods
This book was recommended to me by a teaching colleague of mine who was extremely enthusiastic about it. Having read other books in the past about Dyslexia, my experience was mixed. Having suffered from a mild form of Dyslexia when I was a child & having a 19 year son who still suffers from it today, I just wish this book had been available years ago. It offers both specialist and common-sense advice & is easy to use and apply. Thoroughly recommended.
